News - May 2008 - Film Noir Project :

Alex appears in the "Dark Country" project which endeavours to discuss the extent to which the current dialogue between Western and Middle-Eastern politics has become nothing more then a pastiche to the plots of classic film noir. In classic noir the all American private eyes through whose gaze we pursue the femme fatale into a labyrinth of deception and corruption filled with existential bitterness and alienation is a stark reminder of our current political involvement with the east. Through photography the project replaces the private eye with the eye of the camera and pay homage to various cinematic styles of neo-noir. Doing so by developing a series of images that bring into the very public space of politics a sense of a very secretive and private world of desire that is both eastern and western in its landscape, iconic imagery and composition.

Producer Mia Jafari and photographer Richard J Andersen collaborate on this project. Check out www.miajafari.co.uk now
